Tirzepatide (generic for Mounjaro) is a dual-peptide that increases the body’s insulin production, inhibits glucagon, decreases appetite, delays gastric emptying, and increases incretin hormone secretion. Unfortunately, Tirzepatide is also a once-weekly subcutaneous injection, and common side effects include nausea, dyspepsia, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and injection site irritation. Tirzepatide is still pending FDA approval, but clinical trials have shown promising results in weight loss and overall health improvement.
